Detailed Journey
Day 1
Bangalore
Arrive at Bangalore. You will be met and assisted by our representative who shall handover your travel documents and transfer you to Taj west End to do check-in formalities of Golden Chariot Train. Enjoy a high tea and visit ISKON Hindu Temple, before reaching railway station to board your train. Dinner will be served on-board.
Day 2
Chennai & Mahabalipuram
Day starts with a tour of the city where British in India after establishing their first base in India went on to establish its supremacy. You will leave for Mahabalipuram (UNESCO world heritage site) after visiting Sant Thome Cathedral built over tomb of apostle St Thomas & and enjoy a drive on Marine Bay road.
Day 3
Pondicherry
From Mahabalipuram to Pondicherry is short scenic drive on East Coast road flanked by the roaring waves of Bay of Bengal. Primarily under the French rule before India’s independence it is known for its spiritual and French heritage along with serenity that spreads all around.
Day 4
Tanjore & Trichy
Arriving in Thanjavur you will apart from visiting the famous 11th century Brihadeshwar temple complex (UNESCO world heritage site) also walk within the massive precincts of the Sri Rangam Temple. Get ready to be bewitched by the exquisite Chola bronze collection.
Day 5
Madurai
Watch the ancient ritual come alive at the UNESCO World Heritage Meenakshi Temple. After marveling at the massive temple architecture lose yourself in the splendors of the TirumalaiNayak Palace made in an unusual combination of South Indian Dravidian style with that of Rajputana.
Day 6
Kanyakumari
Enjoy excursion to Kanyakumari, the southern most point on Indian peninsula. Visit the Kumari Amman Temple, located on the shore and thereafter take a short boat ride into the sea for Vivekananda Rock Memorial and the Gandhi Memorial. Unwind later at the beaches of Kovalam.
Day 7
Alleppey & Cochin
After a relaxing boat ride on the leisurely backwaters disembark for Cochin. It is one of the oldest seaports where India carried on its trade with the West. Get awed by the Chinese fishing nets, Jew Synagogue & local spice market.
Day 8
Bangalore
Reach Bangalore after a relaxing train ride. As you revel in the hospitality of the Indian Railways spend your time reliving the days you have spend in the country. You will miss them. Catch the flight back home.
