Day 1
Kolkata
Arrive into Kolkata (erstwhile Calcutta). You will be met and transferred to your hotel. In the afternoon explore the colonial legacy and heritage of Kolkata, the first capital of British in India.
Day 2
Kolkata
Start your day with a visit to flower market and followed with visit to Victoria Memorial, built in memory of Queen Victoria. Drive to the Howrah Bridge an engineering marvel, later visit Mother Teresa’s Ashram.
Day 3
Kolkata Brahmaputra Cruise
Fly from Kolkata to Guwahati for your 3 nights of mesmerizing cruise on Brahmaputra River. Cruise downstream in the company of water’s music and scenic sights. Spend the night in the sounds of wildlife.
Day 4
Brahmaputra Cruise
A walking exploration of the river side village. A cruise upstream will take you to the little town of Sualkuchi, known for its tradition of weaving. Later drive to Hajo, place sacred to Hindus, Muslims and Buddhists.
Day 5
Brahmaputra Cruise
Disembark at Pandu for a short visit to Guwahati. Visit Kamakhya temple, known for its tantric rites and animal sacrifice. Visit the poignant common wealth war Graves cemetery. Explore the mid-stream peacock island.
Day 6
Brahmaputra Cruise - Kaziranga National Park
Reach Mayongriver and thereafter disembark the boat and drive to the Kaziranga National Park. The afternoon jeep safari will take you to one of the most spectacular wildlife habitats in the world.
Day 7
Kaziranga National Park
Get on an elephant’s back to lose yourself with its gentle sway to the charming forlorn world of Kaziranga. Come face to face with the one-horned rhino, which in most likelihood will lost in its own world.
Day 8
Kaziranga National Park - Dibrugarh
Depart for Dibrugarh but not after visiting Sibsagar. Known for its ancient ruins it’s the place from where the kings ruled Assam for 600 years and the ruins of Ahom monuments and temples are sights to behold.
Day 9
Dibrugarh
Early this morning head to Jokai Forest Reserve known as birder’s paradise. Later exploring the tranquil tea gardens of Dibrugarh and learn the complex art of tea production. Taste the brew is you are so inclined.
Day 10
Dibrugarh – Delhi
Fly to Delhi from Dibrugarh to board your flight back home. Take back the memories of rivers, cruise, wildlife, birds, monuments, a lifestyle steeped in time and interactions with its people that’s perhaps unique in the world.
