Day 1


Reaching Delhi our representative will meet you at the airport to take you to your hotel. On the way he will explain you certain basic etiquettes and provide you with an insight into India’s musical traditions along with cultural and social practices.

Day 2


The day begins with a flower tour in Delhi’s old parts. Also visit Jama Masjid and take a rickshaw ride into the alleys of Chandni Chowk. Later in the day wander in the massive precincts of Humayun’s tomb, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Surrender your soul in the evening to the spiritual Sufi Qawwali at Nizamuddin Dargah. As the high pitched voice of the lead singer, narrating the tale of individual soul’s yearnings to merge with the universal soul, booms over the accompanying music it stirs you and leaves you mesmerized.

Day 3


Early in the morning go see the grand Qutub Minar and take a walk around some of the city’s earliest monuments. Later, as the sun readies to quit the day join the devout Sikhs in their symphonic worship, that is, paath at Gurudwara Bangla Sahib. It is a soft soulful recitation of the sacred hymns from Guru Granth Sahib, the sacred book of the Sikhs. After your trip to the Gurudwara visit Ms. Geeta Bhatia, who is an active member of Capital City Minstrels Choir Group. Interact with her over tea/coffee to understand the nuances of India’s esoteric musical traditions.

Day 4


Fly to Udaipur, also known as the City of Lakes on account of the presence of huge water bodies. After landing in Udaipur visit the old city and thereafter take a boat ride on Lake Pichola, which is an artificial fresh water lake.

Day 5


The beginning of a leisurely day. Experience local life in its thriving bazaars after which visit Sahelyon ki Bari gardens and Jagdish Temple. In the evening understand the nuances of Indian cooking with a local family and then sit for dinner with them.

Day 6

Udaipur – Jodhpur

Continue by road travelling through the scenic Aravalli Hills to Jodhpur. It’s a drive that evokes memories of a distant past. Listen to your guide as he narrates you story after story of love, surrender, spirituality and wars. En-route visit Ranakpur-renowned for some marvelously carved Jain temples.

Day 7


Stir the mind, body and soul for two days (22nd and 23rd Feb’19) at the World Sacred Spirit Festival. Witness the verses of Persian poetry mingle with the soulful Sufi music and captivating earthiness of folk songs from all over the world at the sprawling Rajputana Fort.

Day 8


Leave for the pink city of Jaipur. The capital of the state of Rajasthan it has had a hoary past and is known for its forts, palaces, lakes, cenotaph, astronomical observatory, cuisine and jewellery. A walk in the evening in its old bazaar is the highlight of the city.

Day 9


Get on to a guided tour of Jaipur, which starts from the magnificent Amber Fort. Later, discover the bygone charm of the City Palace and indulge in some astronomical calculations at Observatory. Interact in the evening with members of the famous school of music, the Jaipur Gharana.

Day 10


Leave by road for Agra. On the way visit Fatepur Sikri (a UNESCO Heritage site), an erstwhile capital city planned on a grand scale but abandoned shortly afterwards for lack of water. Come alive to romance in the sunset view of the Taj Mahal from across the Yamuna River at Mehtab Bagh.

Day 11


Fly to Varanasi after a sunrise visit to the Taj Mahal. Enjoy in the evening a leisurely boat ride adjacent to the holy Ganga River. Thereafter watch the mesmerizing play of light and thousand years old Vedic chants at the Ganga Aarti to honour the Goddess River. It is difficult to remain unaffected by the divine incantations.

Day 12


Early morning is one of the best times to observe life along the river. Sit in a boat and watch a unique mix of devotion, spirituality and piety. The walk later in the labyrinthine alleys of the old city is another unique experience. Leave in the afternoon for Sarnath, where Buddha preached his first sermon. Return in the evening with a private music session with members of respected Benaras Gharana.

Day 13


The day you leave India. From Varanasi take a flight for Delhi to board your homebound plane. With the soulful music of the country still reverberating in your heart you will wonder whether you have unraveled the mysteries that hides within its voluminous folds.
