Delhi – Leh
An early morning flight to Leh. Use the day to acclimatize to the high altitude. You can relax at the hotel, lazily wander through the quaint city streets, or if you feel up for it, you can climb to the Shanti Stupa and enjoy some breathtaking view of the area.
Today you’ll have the unique opportunity of taking part in the morning prayers at Thikse Monastery. It is a beautiful 12 story building that exemplifies classical Ladakhi architecture. Afterwards we’ll visit the Shey monastery, which was once a residence for the royal family of the region.
Leh - Alchi
Today’s drive will take you to the lovely town of Alchi. Though Alchi is only a 2 hour drive from Leh, we’ll take the scenic route as there are several beautiful places along the way. We’ll stop first at the confluence of the Indus and Zanskar rivers, followed by a majestic Sikh temple, and finally at Magnetic Hill, a perfect spot for photos.
Today we’ll explore Alchi, a small town located on the bank of the Indus River. It is renown for its ancient temples and its thriving local market. Later on in the day we’ll visit the spellbinding Lamayuru Monastery.
Alchi – Leh
In the morning we’ll head back to Leh, stopping en-route to visit the ruins of Basgo and the Likir Monasteries. Upon arrival in Leh, you will have the rest of the day to yourself. Take a leisurely stroll through the local bazaars, explore the local life and culture, or just relax in your hotel if you feel tired.
Leh - Nubra Valley
Today we’ve got a long drive on the world’s highest road to reach the lush Nubra Valley. We’ll stop for plenty of photo ops on the way so you can capture the stunning scenery. Upon arrival you’ll have the rest of the day to relax and unwind.
A short drive through the valley will take you to the Samstanling Monastery. It is one of the more modern monasteries we’ll see. In the afternoon we’ll ride through the Hundar sand dunes on camels, which is often one of our guests’ favorite parts of the trip.
Nubra Valley – Leh
It’s time to drive back to Leh. When we arrive, the rest of the day is your own. Spend it reminiscing about the journey of the last week. The beautiful landscapes and the friendly people. Or go for one last walk through the city to get one last experience of this unique city and its timeless culture.
Leh - Delhi
Take a flight to Delhi in the morning where it will finally be time to catch your flight home. Reminisce about the many magical moments you experienced over the last two weeks and look forward to your next trip to the magical Mother India.
